BIS conducts raids across Maharashtra to crack down on hallmarked jewellery





The Bureau of Indian Expectations (BIS) executed a specific enforcement (research and seizure) drive in key metropolitan areas in the state of Maharashtra to check the misuse of the BIS Hallmark on gold jewelry.


The raids had been carried out simultaneously at six towns such as Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Nagpur. Two retailers in Mumbai’s Zaveri Bazar had been raided as component of the procedure, and about 2.75 kg of gold jewelry worthy of over Rs 1.5 crore was seized, the authority explained.
