Sparkling high jewellery timepieces to add to your closet

Early last week, luxury American jeweller Harry Winston added a sparkling selection of diamond-encrusted watches to its ever-growing “Emerald” timepieces. Mimicking the octagonal form of an emerald-cut diamond, the latest “Precious Emerald” editions come in six eye-catching dial colours. These range from light blue and pale pink to bright yellow and intense navy blue, along with one white dial version crafted using mother-of-pearl. Set in a platinum case, each timepiece comes decked in marquise diamonds which make an appearance on both the case as well as the bracelet. While the case is adorned with 20 brilliant-cut and 10 marquise diamonds, the bracelet itself has 8 brilliant-cut and 126 marquise diamonds, making for a very luxurious timepiece that doubles up as elegant jewellery.

Jewellery watches have always been an elegant statement piece that add just the right amount of bling to any occasion or ensemble. While the new Harry Winston selection is a tad difficult to find, here are some other striking jewellery watches to add to your collection of bling.

Bvlgari Serpenti Romani Secret Watch

Bvlgari’s Serpenti collection never fails to make a statement and this bold timepiece is no exception. Made entirely out of 18kt white gold, the Serpenti Romani Secret Watch is a handcuff bracelet-style watch set with about a dozen snow-pavé diamonds that add a bright sparkle to the watch. The white gold bracelet is illuminated with the legendary serpent whose body is set with round brilliant-cut diamonds, while the head has a flower crafted with pear-shaped and marquise-shaped diamonds, along with two pear-shaped emeralds for eyes. Carrying the bling forward, the dial is also fully set with round brilliant-cut diamonds.

Graff Inspired by Twombly Watch

A minimal, elegant piece of jewellery that also tells the time, Graff’s Inspired by Twombly Jewellery Watch is a work of art with elaborate design and craftsmanship. Recreating the free-flowing swirls of the artist Cy Twombly’s paintings, the white gold diamond watch presents a collection of fluid loops for a bracelet which forms a seamless stream of brilliance. Weighing about 26.30 carats, the watch uses round and baguette cut diamonds complemented by a pavé diamond dial. Despite the heavy use of diamonds, the high jewellery watch weighs all about 26.30 carats which makes for a perfect lightweight and elegant piece of jewellery. 

Jaeger LeCoultre 101 Bangle

Inspired by the graceful geometry of the Art Deco era, the Jaeger LeCoultre 101 Bangle is studded with as many as 996 diamonds. A dynamic interplay of symmetry and asymmetry the diamonds along the bracelt graduate in size to create a three-dimensional effect. One of the noteworthy features of the 101 Bangle is the calibre used, Calibre 101 which is among the world’s smallest calibres. Adding edge to the design, the watch’s pink gold bracelet opens with a simple twist of the two sides. 

Piaget Limelight Gala High Jewelry Watch

Calling it an emblem of feminine energy, Piaget’s Limelight Gala High Jewelry watch is an ode to Piaget artistry. White gold complemented with marquise-cut sapphires and brilliant-cut diamonds are at the heart of this watch. This creation reflects the remarkable High Jewelry expertise of Van Cleef & Arpels which uses various gem-setting techniques, carefully selected to intensify the brilliance of its diamonds. Platinum is one of the primary metals used, namely the 20 mm platinum case, platinum bezel and platinum bracelet. The rhodium-plated 18K white gold dial and bracelet use a total of 283 brilliant-cut diamonds weighing approximately 15.8 carats.
