If the Met Gala is the SuperBowl of fashion then the Oscars is certainly the World Cup final. Taking place this year on Sunday, March 12, 2023, the event is considered the highlight of the awards season calendar. So naturally it plays host to the most extravagant dresses and most stunning make up looks… and of course it’s also all about the jewellery.
Back in the early years of the Academy Awards, stars would wear their own baubles or in exceptional cases, borrow them from their movie sets… but now household names from the likes of Van Cleef & Arpels and De Beers clamour to adorn the wrists, necks and lobes of the world’s biggest stars.

This year everyone was going gaga for green as emeralds seemed to have caught the hearts of the glitterati… Being the magpies that we are, we have put together a round up of the 10 most extravagant jewellery we saw at the 2023 Oscars:
Sofia Carson
Performing Applause on the evening, which was nominated for Best Original Song, actress and singer Sofia Carson glittered at the 95th Annual Academy Awards wearing jewellery by Chopard. Sofia selected a necklace featuring seven octagonal shaped emeralds totaling 122.49-carats along with 92.57-carats of pear-shaped, marquise cut, baguette cut and round shaped diamonds set in Fairmined-certified white gold jewellery from the brand’s “Haute Joaillerie Collection.”
Michelle Yeoh
Oscar nominee Michelle Yeoh looked heavenly in a medley of diamonds, proving they really are a girl’s best friend. She donned diamond drop earrings, a diamond tiara and even a dazzling diamond encrusted watch.
Angela Bassett
Angela Bassett “did the thing” in a stunning Bulgari Serpenti necklace which coiled dramtically around her nape, and paired it with a matching Serpenti bangle from the Roman jewellerys.
Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens dazzled in Chanel fine jewellery to compliment her gown from the luxury French maison, styled by Jason Bolden

Jessica Chastain opted for Gucci fine jewellery at the 2023 Oscars, wearing an emerald and diamond necklace (cementing the fact that emeralds seem to be everywhere right now.)

Zoe Saldana echoed the vintage theme of her Fendi dress in an art deco necklace, which harked back to the roaring 20s.
