When packing for a trip or vacation, a few items are non-negotiable for your toiletry bag. One of them is a travel-size fragrance. Contrary to popular belief, the best designer options are actually affordable!
Some of my favorite long-lasting fragrances from brands like Tom Ford, KAYALI, Jo Malone London and Maison Margiela come in travel sizes and retail for as low as $25. Based on personal experience, these will last for years, so if you don’t want to commit to full-size fragrance, there’s no need to shell out hundreds of dollars.
Below, I’ve rounded up seven travel-size fragrances I’ve been rotating for the past two years — and none of them have run out yet. This is because each pick is potent and long-lasting, and since they aren’t highly diluted, all you need is one or two sprays.
Also, you don’t have to worry about if these are TSA-friendly as they all meet the size requirements for stowing in carry-ons on major airlines. According to the TSA, containers 3.4 oz or smaller may go in carry-ons and through checkpoint security and each pick below meets this requirement.
These travel-size fragrances are also perfect for layering with each other or other favorites in your arsenal.
From the creamy, sweet and nutty KAYALI Yum Pistachio Gelato 1.7 oz Fragrance to the light and fresh SKYLAR Salt Air Rollerball Fragrance, these travel-size fragrances will get you plenty of “you smell good” compliments! Check them all out below.
Sol de Janeiro is known for its No. 1 best-selling Bum Bum Body Cream, but its warm and spicy summer-ready fragrance is what everyone’s raving about right now.
Many say it evokes the feeling of summer better than any other fragrance on the market and we have to say that we wholeheartedly agree. The scent transports you to the beaches of Rio. Best of all, though, it’s long-lasting, super rich and has bold, delicious notices of pistachio, salted caramel, golden sandalwood and warm vanilla.
This fragrance is the product of KAYALI and Huda Beauty’s first-ever collaboration. As outlined in our list of the best long-lasting fragrances, KAYALI Lovefest Burning Cherry is sweet, spicy and perfect for layering.
I brought this on a weekend trip and layered it with one of my favorite fresh scents (Maison Margiela REPLICA Bubble Bath). It made for the perfect clean and rich evening combo that’s not overpowering. It’s also an ideal unisex combination.
If you’re looking for the ideal crisp, fresh scent that’s effortless but still elevated, SKYLAR’s Salt Air Rollerball Fragrance is my absolute top recommendation.
With key notes of sea salt, seaweed and driftwood and light floral notes of water lily, this beachy, light unisex fragrance gives endless summer beach vibes. It’s as if the Hamptons and the Amalfi Coast had a baby.
What I love most about this fragrance, though, is that this TSA-approved mini version costs only $30. So, just pop it in your bag and go!
KAYALI has a reputation for creating some of today’s most exciting and memorable fragrances. From Lovefest Burning Cherry and Vanilla Royalle Sugared Patchouli to Invite Only Amber and Elixir, the brand knows how to create niche scents that leave a lasting impression in the best way.
The latest to join the ranks is the decadent summer-ready fragrance Yum Pistachio Gelato. Inspired by Italy and a scoop of gelato, this intense fragrance actually smells edible and stays true to its “green” roots. It has notes of creamy pistachio gelato, whipped cream, roasted hazelnut, sweet rum and fluffy marshmallow for a creamy, yummy fragrance you’ll want to wear all summer long.
Though a bit pricier, Jo Malone London’s fragrances are long-lasting and don’t need more than one or two sprays to get things going.
English Pear & Freesia Cologne is, by far, one of its top sellers. It’s fitting for all seasons and is the perfect year-round daytime fragrance.
This fresh scent mimics the aroma of ripe pears wrapped in a bouquet of bright white freesias. Notes of amber and patchouli mellow those fruity tones, so think of this as the perfect mix of fresh, crisp, cool and woody.
I love layering this with Tom Ford Velvet Orchid to take it from day to night with just one spritz.
Speaking of Tom Ford, this luxury brand’s travel-size fragrances will give you your money’s worth. I’ve used their travel-size fragrances for two years, and none are even close to being empty.
Tom Ford Soleil Blanc Travel Spray is the ideal fragrance for those looking for something warm and spicy. In my opinion, it’s the perfect standalone fall and winter scent. Like just about all of Tom Ford’s fragrances, it’s unisex and layers perfectly with others.
The brand describes it as “an addictive solar, floral amber and coco-de-mer-infused” fragrance. This basically means it strikes the perfect balance between being warmly comforting and sweet and seductive. A little goes a long way with this one.
I’ve touched on the genius formula that is Tom Ford Black Orchid before, but this one is such a stunner and so powerful that the travel-size fragrance is all you need to last you a couple of years.
Have you ever encountered a scent that just smells like wealth? Well, this fits the bill! This fragrance is the epitome of luxury with robust, warm, masculine key notes like black truffle, patchouli and black orchid.
